“MAKING TRACKS” Notes From the Track Superintendent
Now that all the concrete footings for the bridge bents are in place, crews installed all of the bents---all made from 4 X 4 material, donated to the C.L.S. by the Adcock’s. Wayne McGuire, Jerry Bernard and Mark Adcock met on a Saturday at the Adcock’s and pre-fabricated all of these bents according to heights surveyed by Jerry Bernard. (Earline and Linda were present also and lent a hand where they could.) As soon as these bents were bolted in place---paint crews attacked them to seal them from the weather. Once again all of this was accomplished with a great work party: Rich Ulin, Jerry & Earline Bernard, Mark & Linda Adcock, Ira Schreiber, Fred Schurr, Tom Johnson, Bo Hoffman, Dave Johnson, Wayne McGuire, Pat Green, Jim Dutton and Skip Foltz. Next work day will see the bridge beams, “stringers”, placed on top of the bents. Then ties, then rail, then we’re across the bridge and heading for “Helper” WOW! And as always, your continued help and dedication to our organization is appreciated by all, Mark Adcock, Track Superintendent |
