“MAKING TRACKS” Notes From the Track Superintendent
Now that we have crossed the bridge, track is being laid to finish out the loop which will conclude Phase Two of the Northwest Expansion. This loop is comprised of 1,700 feet of track, so you can see we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Once this is complete, I will begin to configure track placement for Phase Three. Between the completion of Phase Two and the start of Phase Three, however, the accepted plan is to install more steaming bays and expand badly needed yard areas. This was in evidence of 14 operating locomotives and rolling stock at the “Annual Run” in September. The signal system being developed for operation between “Summit” and “Helper” is making great head-way. As it stands right now, preliminary testing of hardware will take place very soon. If all goes as planned, each signal mast will receive and deliver information using wireless technology. This is another example of very talented folks getting involved for the organization’s benefit. This is a very interesting and exciting project as it possess endless possibilities in what the wireless system is able to do. I remain truly dedicated and excited about our progress and it’s obvious that the membership is also, for our work parties continue to grow in size.
And as always, your continued help and dedication to our organization is appreciated by all, Mark Adcock, Track Superintendent |
